Yelyzaveta tirelessly supported local publishers and Sunday schools in her native Poltava region, as well as financed the Prosvita society and the Pravda publishing house in Halychyna. She was instrumental in establishing the Taras Shevchenko Literary and Scientific Society in Lviv, which would later become the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. Described as an ‘emancipated’ woman unbound by prejudice, she was knowledgeable in political economy and aspired to write a comprehensive  history of Ukraine. Her compassion extended to vulnerable children, she founded a women’s society dedicated to the care of orphans and established an orphanage for abandoned infants.

In gratitude, townsfolk honoured her at her passing with these words: “Thank you, mother, our eternal gratitude! May the earth rest lightly upon you!”
