Born in the Ternopil region to a large priestly family, Solomiya was educated at the Ternopil Gymnasium and the Lviv Conservatory before continuing her studies in Milan. Krushelnytska mastered eight foreign languages and developed exceptional singing skills. Initially a prima donna at the Warsaw Opera, she went on to perform on the most prestigious opera stages worldwide. Throughout her career, she embodied  63 opera roles and portrayed nearly 60 distinct characters. Solomiya’s most legendary performance took place at La Scala, where she starred as Madam Butterfly, rescuing Giacomo Puccini’s opera from failure and earning seventeen curtain calls.

Despite her international acclaim, Solomiya remained deeply connected to her Ukrainian roots. She ended every concert with a Ukrainian song, honouring her heritage in every performance.
